Head down to The Public on June 29th for some of the best media production workshops and talks! #media2012wm and AlphaPad will give you the skills needed to become confident citizen journalists ready to report on what’s going on in your community.

What will I learn at the event?
Good question! We want to give attendees all the skills they might need as a citizen journalist so that you can help give your community the strongest possible voice. We’re happy to take workshop suggestions on the day and run ad-hoc sessions based on demand, but here are a few of the things we have pre-planned:

-Web creation
-WordPress – An introduction
-Video production
-Recording audio
-Live blogging
-Publishing from mobile (video, text, pictures & audio)
-Interview techniques & practices
-Live brief! TBA at the event.

Who will be there?
We have some great speakers already and are adding more all the time!
Currently confirmed speakers/workshop leaders are: Adam PerryJohn Coster,Jennifer JonesFranzi BahrleStuart ParkerLuke SeagerJoe Hagen + more as they are confirmed.

What about after the event?
We’re inviting every attendee back the next day (June 30th) to put the skills learnt into practice! The Olympic Torch comes to West Bromwich for you to follow and produce content around. There’s also events on all across the West Midlands including at Sandwell College and many youth clubs in and around the area.
